Application for Membership

The society was organized in 1889 and has as its primary purpose the collection and preservation of history on the early settlement of the Black Hills and biographies of its founders.

In the beginning, only those coming to the Black Hills in 1876 or before could be members. This was amended later so that now the direct descendents of pioneers who came to the Black Hills ARea on or before the 1880 census are eligible, ending the early pioneer era.

It is with a great deal of pride that we invite you, as a prospective member, to help us in our efforts to keep these memories alive.
